The Korean alphabet, known as Hangul, was created in the 15th century by King Sejong the Great of the Joseon Dynasty in Korea. It was designed to be an easier writing system than the Chinese characters that were previously used in Korea.

Hangeul consists of 14 consonants and 10 vowels, a total of 24 letters. The beginning of the Korean alphabet began with King Sejong the Joseon Dynasty. In 1446, King Sejong started Hangul with Hunminjeongeum, the beginning of Hangeul.
